Post a picture you took today

I think it's all walnut, though maple was used in the 1998+ Lincoln Continental.

I once thought about leather wrapping the pull handle with some nice stitching, but it seemed too difficult to do  well.

The Rolls Royce is burled walnut, figured/birdseye maple is much much lighter with tighter grain

The thin slices are called veneer(not to be confused with vinyl wraps) wood veneer is real wood in the same way the wood in plywood is real wood, they’re just peeled around the log in a spiral rather than being slices

Ok, now widdle a pull handle out of a chunk of solid wood. That would be a nice touch. Problem with that is I have no idea what species you need to look for. Almost looks maplish

My friend did that in his old 93 Thunderbird. He was going to whittle a replacement door handle from a good piece of drift wood * he found at the beach .. he ended up using a 2x4 instead. This was in his car with the butterfly bedspread headliner and fishing poles in trunk .. he bought the car from an old Chinese lady. Forgive me if I dont get enthusiastic over wood.

This was a surprising sight today. Not only are MN12s uncommon as hell in any condition around here but a nice one with aftermarket wheels in a repainted non-stock green(actually looks like DHG).

It looks very familiar.

Edit: Well I’ll be damned

Those wheels are hideous. Like really bad.

I got to watch my son and his high school band play at Pearl Harbor from the Surrender Deck of the Missouri today. Awesome day!View attachment 12563
That’s awesome. To me, Pearl Harbor is a religious like place that every American should visit at some point in their life to see, remember and pay their respects to those who died there on that fateful day.

This guy showed up at our house one afternoon. Was incredibly friendly and walked right up to us and the kids. Clearly was a kitten that got let out after an unexpected litter.

Came outside the next morning and he was still here. I'm incredibly allergic so we couldn't keep him. The county shelter here is no-kill so I called them. They said they had exactly zero cats to adopt out but had people calling every day looking for an adult cat. Got him in the kennel and took him there. Seems like a win for everyone.

That surprises me. The shelters here are full of cats. Anyway, he's a real cutie/pretty cat. Should have no trouble finding him a new home.

He was on their site for one day. We have a lot of farms around here so there's a high demand for barn cats.
