Post a picture you took today

Did lots of stuff today and a couple days ago, I finally got the catalytic converter guard clearanced on my crv as it was contacting the cat and making a horrible vibration noise (no photo cause boring). Then today I was doing nothing else so I took the crv out from under the mountain of snow (we have got about 8 in. in the past couple days) and pulled it into the garage to do a coolant drain and fill, the coolant in the bucket is the old stuff which looks good but its about 6 years old and the radiator looks new inside (sorry for bad photo) which makes me happy to know its healthy. Now the crv is finally in a state where I can drive it again every day and know its gonna always get me home.

Hondas last forever. Ask me how I know. 😂

They're also dirt cheap to maintain and repair. Also ask me how I know, lol

240 switch box... Easy solution to charge the new car. Can't use the dryer at the same time, but this setup saved me from running a new circuit to the breaker panel. The garage is next to the laundry room so it worked out and is easy an easy solution.

30 amps at 240v gets about 21 miles per hour charge rate. Using a standard 120v 15 amp outlet is only 3

Back about 10 years ago,my Chinese buddy at work asked me about a noise, so we looked after work; his ball joints had 400k mi on them, and were wasted, as were the wheel bearings. We put together an order, got stuff for new control arms, bushings, etc. $300.
We put them in at work, I had him get tires and aligned; he was blown away by the new-car feel after. :)

This is an neat idea, I may go this route if I need a 2nd (or faster) EVSE in the garage down the road. A few years back I converted a dedicated 12 AWG 120 outlet to a 240V outlet for the Level 2 EVSE I bought for the Energi. The wiring and EVSE is only good for 16A, but the Energi doesn't draw more than that anyway. :)

In other news, passed the instrument knowledge (written) exam yesterday morning and spent some more time in the sim this afternoon (low clouds with supercooled water today - no way, Jose!). Going to hit the gray, rainy skies tomorrow for some cross-country action.

 I changed the fluid in the transfer case of our 1999 RAM 1500 4X4 today. It was like 75 degrees in Charlotte today. I’m pretty sure we set a new temp. record. It’s still 62 degrees outside, I’m chilling on my back patio now enjoying it. Very unseasonably warm for late December.

Damn! It's about 19* here now and hit about 25 this afternoon. Got about 3 inches of snow here overnight and looking at a possibility of freezing rain tomorrow night then all rain Monday.

Have I said how much I hate winter?! 💥:zboom:

Spending the weekend at the ranch, it was beautiful out, got allot of stuff done. Sitting by the fire now. I can’t post a pic cuz signal sucks. I’ll try to remember to post one I have better signal.

Yuck! Yeah, it’s “Hell freezes over” season as you put it. You’re always welcome to move to NC where the winters are much milder than the Boston area in the great white north. Would be honored to have you join us down South, Joe.

Nice! It's always a good feeling to freshen up a suspension and help a friend out at the same time. Wow! 400K miles on his vehicle, that's amazing!

I recently overhauled our 1999 Dodge RAM 1500 4x4 with new tires, new rear brake pads and drums, new rear brake cylinders, new brake fluid, new Bilstein shocks all around and a new cold air intake. We rarely use the truck so I've been neglecting it. Although the front pads had been changed the rear drum brakes had never been touched in about 78K miles. The pads had eaten grooves into the drums. I had a hell of a time getting them off but once I did the rebuild went pretty smoothly. I also flushed and refilled the fluid in the transfer case and added some gear oil to the front diff. The truck now has a good-as-new feel that it hasn't had in years. I'm still waiting on some parts to try to fix the "death wobble" and tighten up the slop in the steering that these 2nd gen. RAM trucks are know for.

I replaced the dash, had the headliner recovered, sound treated the interior and put a new stereo system in it in 2021 so the interior is now in near-mint condition. Now, the paint on the other hand is really faded, that's kind of the next thing on the radar but I'm going to let it go for now. Don't want the truck to look "too good" it might become a theft target.

Finally getting around to posting these, the snow has finally stopped but Friday and Saturday were heavy snow, about another 6in over the two full days, its a weird (and cool) feeling going outside and hearing all the snow soak up the background noise so it’s super quiet, we hit -30° c which is plenty cold. These pics are from when we were done shovelling, then we shoveled again the next morning as it was needed again

We live about 1/8 mile from the turnpike; it can be quite noisy when there's a lot of traffic and the winds are right. It's great when there's a fresh snow because it slows (most) traffic down, reduces the volume, and sucks up the noise. :)

!e used to meet up on snow days to sled and party, when we could, a lot of times things here closed, if it snowed much. It's that rare. I had subarus then; I had no probs.
We sledded and partied one day in the 80's: 1/4" of ice followed by 6" of wet snow. Then it cooled to -29F, while adding 3" of powder on tip of the ice.
My beer froze in my hand, lol. I hit a tree 15' off the ground, missing a curve, lol. Peeling off the tree and falling was as bad as hitting the tree. The Pic above reminds me of the way the roads looked like, with snow over ice.

I had a buddy with an old Oldsmobile hot rod that was badass as hell. It had termite damage, lol.
