What are you Listening To?

Sultry and slow crescendo until about 1:50 and then Wow! What an amazing voice.

An excellent garage rock track from 2016, with a great meaty bass line (song actually starts 30 seconds in):

A great slice of 70s funk from the Jimmy Castor Bunch (the trimmed single version), with a monster riff:

And beautiful vocals combine on this catchy one from last year:

Last dinner party is interesting. What are the odds that they put the L in LGBTQ?

Still the greatest live album ever.

Can't say I care much either way, but the video gives pretty strong vibes on that, yeah.

Also, I keep coming back to this one some 30 years later. A 90s power-trio take on Led Zeppelin, with enormous drums, a scorching little solo and just a touch of the Middle East. The album mix is better than the video one here, but either way, best played very loud:

Also, I don't intend to spam this thread, but I just learned that Steve Albini died and it's depressed the hell out of me. Here's my favourite song of his, an unapologetic slab of noise from 1986 about growing up in the middle of nowhere and wanting to burn the entire fucking place to the ground.

I saw this tour, when he hits that "Aww, come ON!" at the beginning, I got goosebumps. He's the greatest metal singer and I have most of his stuff but I had no idea he could do that.

My favorite version of Black Sabbath (though they called themselves Heaven & Hell for this tour so as not to confuse the dumber Sabbath fans expecting Ozzy, hahaahaha). Dio's music actually requires Vinny on drums.

Never was a big Dio Sabbath guy, but his work in Rainbow was a recent discovery in the past few years and I'm blown away by how good the Rising album is. I especially like the "LA mix" of it that really brings the bass to the fore.

Yeah I'm a Rainbow Dio guy as well, Stargazer/Light in the black is the best near 20 minutes of hard rock ever recorded. Apparently Dio thought it was self indulgence by Blackmore but as a guitarist I love it.

Dio Sabbath I'm hot and cold with, but Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are way way better than Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die, which to me are borderline unlistenable. Mostly I like the faster tempo Dio/Sabbath songs the best; Mob Rules, Falling off the Edge of the World, Neon Knights, Die Young etc. Heaven and Hell (the song) was my first introduction to that era and it never really wowed me, I liked Ozzy for those slower paced songs.

Stargazer is great. At least Shock Wave and Over to You are good songs from Never Say Die

Dehumanizer was decent Dio Sabbath

Sometimes I hate Motörhead, whenever they get in my rotation it makes me realize everything else I listen to I thought I loved sounds wimpy by comparison :headbang:

Out of sheer random curiosity I decided to look at what the members of the Sex Pistols besides John Lydon got up to after the band broke up. The answer is "not much besides drugs", but two of them formed a short-lived band that put out this catchy number in 1981.

I didn't realize he did anything besides public image ltd. I saw the pistols in the 70's in ATL. I have been spit on by Johnny Rotten, lol.

When I was in hs, there was a huge keg party, at dude and a chick I used to date 's house. a buddy, that was a bit "touched" as my mom used to say, after a wreck with a fatality. (who was a biker before that, and in the navy. Chick on a bicycle turned across in front of him, while he was doing the speed limit.) anyway, harley in living room, standin there talking and dude walks up and says: I love bikes, but I hate harleys! :) I distracted the owner, while my buddy krndall got the other guy out of there, in a car, and gone. art realizes dude is gone, ad he's like "Did you distract me on purpose!!" I managed to calm him down, but damn.

On the vinyl version of "sabbath's Heaven and hell, there's an interlude, that I saw live, where he said, during heaven an hell, "I'm going to hell, with all of you!! It's not on the cd, only the vinyl.
