Super rare high performance high rise aluminum 4.6 intake manifold. Patented adjustable runners allows it to fit 4.6 and 5.4. Liqui-metal moldable ports allows it to fit PI and NPI heads. I heard they had to pull these out of production because people were going too fast and killing themselves. Rumor has it Ford settled 50 lawsuits out of court for that very reason before they stopped making them and tried to buy back the rest that they sold. Somehow this made it out into the wild.

So a high rise intake added to the venerable 260hp of a PI engine make them "too fast"? Do they make a super intake for a 302HO? Asking for a friend...

Oh yeah, one of these bad boys!

Can't remember if we discussed this one earlier or not. Looks like a very nice car.

I think this one is a fair price, and a desirable car. I know I want to take it for a spin!

I like the rims.

Rare aftermarket spoiler too. I agree that’s a good one for a reasonable price

I don't think I've ever seen someone refuse a prospective driver from actually driving the car. I guess I could see it if it was a Hemi 'Cuda or something, but let's not get ridiculous.

NGL I’d probably be the same way if I didn’t run my cars into the ground and/or irrationally keep forever 😆 only vehicle I ever sold was my motorcycle and I was definitely nervous the buyer would drop it when I let him go around the block

my toxic trait is I would totally take this on as a project if I had the space, price is cad btw

Two doors are a thing?

Two door Camry was before the Solara came out. They were super reliable and somewhat sporty.

I drove a Solara for the better part of 10 years. Great car, they even made a V6 and manual trans for a few years. I always thought it was a good looking car.

Mine was a 4 cylinder manual.... But the obnoxious catback I put on it made it much faster

Yea I like Solara. They're in bad condition whenever I see them, but still glad to see it. Interesting that their door handle is a different color, I would suspect wear/tear rather than a wreck? Id consider picking that up as a grocery mule for a couple of years if I had those 2020 interest rates

They were fairly common at a time, one of the cars in high school auto shop was a green 2 door Camry. That generation was pretty nice overall

Solid 3.8! Given its BAT, any guesses to what the final bid will be? 8K?

Awesome. I've always kind of wanted a 89-91 base model with the steel wheels and hubcaps. Not sure why. Saw a very nice maroon version for sale years ago, but I didn't have anything to do to it and no space to store it.

Super clean, but that's hard to say. The V6 hub cap spec will hold it down. I say $6500, as a cheap V8 swap candidate in great shape..

Even $6500 seems way high for such a base model. Hopefully i'm wrong!

It's easy to forget since we are into these cars, that the average person looks at that and sees something about as exciting as one of these -

That was my first thought, then thought about the money invested in fixing my rust bucket. That's when I realized it's cheap potential.

Oddly enough, I would be more excited to see a clean 1st gen Taurus today than I would be to see a base model V6 MN12. I suspect it’s because I still do see MN12s out in the wild occasionally, but I can’t tell you the last time I saw a late 80s Taurus that wasn’t an SHO. For a while they were so ubiquitous that they were the least exciting thing possible, but in hindsight, I can see why they were so popular.

$6500 is almost what I paid for my 32,xxx 1989 XR7 on B-a-T 3 years ago, so I'd like to think this could be had for less than that. I put my guess in at $5100

Same here; myself and probably most here would be thrilled to see either in mint shape.

My kids & wife don't understand some of the cars I point out when we are driving around.
I usually say something like " Wow! I havent seen one of those so clean in like 25 years... I'd so drive that!"

Their reaction....
