Post a picture you took today

I don't remember having that issue before and I'm sure I've changed my alternator at least one in my 30+ years of ownership. Maybe I just got used to the grind or flat out blocked that pain out of my memory. Looks like the alternator might still clear the end of the bolt, but I'm sure you tried that. Anyway, I see that you've already got it back together. Btw, nice looking engine bay.
The radiator and intercooler locations are much altered in order to fit the Comets engine compartment. As an example the radiator cap is now the high point in the cooling system and the lower intercooler piping exits the cooler where the PS pump used to be.Screenshot_20250204-175556~2.png

I totally glossed over the fact that this was in you Comet. Btw, I love your car and saw it years ago at SCCoA, i just didn't put 2 and 2 together.

Meanwhile at Whole Foods...

Many thanks. I drove it to Aldi last week. Old guy in his 70s with a Vietnam Veterans ballcap was looking at it when I came out of the store. He saw me and asked, "was it your dad's or your granddad's?"

I haven't laughed so hard in years.

That's the one I bought! It's light, easy to use and if you know what you doing with a welder, it can produce some good welds.

Enjoy!

Nice! I have been wanting to learn welding. Once you have that skill it really opens up a lot of options and ability with working on cars. In some ways it's almost a handicap not being able
Maybe you could start wih the Temu welder...

Or take the dive at $120 and get the Harbor Fright model and just start on some scrap metal. That's what I did!

... and I still can't weld worth a crap!

I'm all for Harbor Freight, so I will consider it! Would like to do up a Truebendz exhaust for the Cougar...

A Temu welder, IDK about that...

HAHA! Yeah, the reviews said they worked until they didn't. I watched SimonFordMan go through a Harbor Frieght welder or two. He just jumps in his car and runs down to HB, buys a new one and moves on with his project. But he does beat the crap out of his welder (same welder as the one XR7 and I have) doing all kinds of stuff. They seam to be pretty reliable and I have used mine a lot without issue. Just be sure to read the manual FIRST, then hook everything up. It will save you a lot of time, believe me.

I’d sooner spend the $50k on this.

With that, you’ll never need another truck. The new one is going to be a disaster trying to keep all the emissions crap running in 10 years, and that’s IF Stellantis doesn’t go completely belly-up, in which case that truck will become a giant paperweight.
