The Unofficial "Ask a Stupid Question" Thread

That's exactly how they come out. I've exploded them by barely touching a curb, turning a 180. They are deformed, and kinda shredded by doing that. Moog was the oem.

Preference between these oil plugs?

My car came with A. Never had an issue, and always just reused the old one.

Then, about 2-3 oil changes ago, I decided to get a new plug. No idea why; must have read it somewhere. Went with B. I think there may be some leaking, though that may come from elsewhere. Thinking about switching back to the old plug.

my parents dodge van has A and yeah ive never had an issue, I got a new ford plug when I did the first oil change on my bird, cant remember which type it was but If you think its leaking I would go back to A and make sure its torqued right (I know you would, your quite precise) and clean the pan a ton to make sure its not seepage from somewhere else.

I've used the B type plug with my cars, just replacing the seal on every oil change, never had any leaks from the plug.

On my 4.6 I usually grab the Dorman M14 assorted gaskets every third or forth change, the top middle is as good as the OEM one, and is reusable within reason, and the copper one works second best in a pinch. The rest suck.

What is this connector to? Driver side of the engine block. I want to say it's for the block heater connector for cold weather climates...?

It’s the low coolant connector for the V6 tank. V8s use a different one and the harness is wired for both

I agree, it looks like its made of the same material as semi tractor airbags, so I don't think they would ever fail by popping, however, I could absolutely see it dropping the car by slipping off to the side as the force direction would shift to not be perfectly vertical, unlike a floor jack that pulls itself under to keep the force vector perfectly vertically linear.
