Finance Thread - What stocks are you in, etc.

Futures are way down before market open. I'm expecting a huge selloff. Possibly 2025 will look like 2008.
I'm just hoping today isn't like 1987. I was at work that day, and it was depressing. I started to start a poll on how hard it will tank, but that would be unpopular.
I expect gas in the midwest to go up 1-2 bux, and groceries to go up ~10-20%. Next winter will be expensive, and veggies grown in Mexico to go up 50% or more.
As of 10am it's at 43,911.24 -628.43 (-1.41%)

Anyone here DCA'ing? It's a good time to do so!

Today wasn't as negative as I feared. I think (fortunately) the market is generally taking this tariff nonsense in stride.

I've currently got some limit orders in on NVDA, PYPL, SOFI and AMZN. l last bought NVDA on 1/27. I'm doing a modified DCA. Basically buying things when i think they've reached a good price.

NVDA is actually under where I last bought at 118. It's 116 now.
My current limit order on NVDA is at 113.22 we'll see if it gets there.

What are you shopping for and at what prices?

On the bright side the medical sector and HIMS (+4.43%) were up today.

SMCI is up 10% also; but I'm still in a big hole on that one. 🤐

Breathing a sigh of relief here ..

I'm finally up on this one - after last years shit show; so .. I kept buying more at the $29-34 range until my DCA went from $70 to $45. Still not completely out of the woods with the company's financial reporting and all, but they are projecting major growth leading into 2026 .. they have not started converting the old Frys building into an additional manufacturing site. 😉

See above. 🤭

:headbang::gpunk::ezride::monk:PLTR had a great quarter! Up 22% this morning!!!

I think I'm somewhere around 200% on this now .. should have bought MORE. 🙄

Oh, I know! I expect a retracement on PLTR to the 95 to 80 range at some point (Down 20% to 33% from current level). When it does I’ll be buying. Watching it closely.

At $119 / share I'm up 550% on PLTR! I made my first buys in 2021. I only wish my share count was higher! Tom Nash talked this stock up for the longest time. I've long been a follower of his.

Looks like a pump-and-dump.

Do you have a stop-loss setup yet on where you want to sell when the rug is ripped out from underneath it?

No, I don't set stop losses. I've been burned on those before. They're as dangerous as not having them. I got kicked out of FB/META on a stop loss when it dropped and then it rocketed back up.

What's driving that rapid climb in HIMS is a short squeeze and news of a buyout, not a pump and dump.

"HIMS shares jumped past 21% after the company said it has bought at-home lab testing facility, Sigmund NJ LLC marketed as Trybe Labs, to allow the company to offer at-home blood testing through its platform. "

To be fair, that goes both ways.

I set a stop loss on TLRY back in the day. The day it popped to $300+/share it tanked. My stop loss was set for $160 that day and the stock never got back up. Right now, it's at $0.87/share, lol.

That's got me thinking now.... Maybe I'll buy some more TLRY. Maybe throw $20 at it and hold for forever to see what happens, lol.

True. You can get burned either way. That's why it's important to pick good stocks and know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em...

Cue the Kenny Rogers!

Already down 10% ..

The sketchy part is that it's been trading 600x it's P/E value .. 🤔

Wow! 600x ! Didn't know it was that high.
People want to buy into it because they believe all of the govt money which will flow into this company with the current regime... but fail to account that such inflows are already priced in.

The only saving grace is that MTG bought into PLTR on 2/12 at approx $115.

Her investment is down >22% since she bought in so clearly she can't even insider trade properly.

Q: Any of you still holding TSLA. Are you still green?
Between BYD eating their lunch in APAC and sales falling off a cliff in EU, I'm not sure this is a great longterm hold.
I have friends who are going from "maybe I need one of those I bought this car before..." stickers to "fuck, I'm thinking about swapping this car out BUT I need to get an alternative that supports NACS so I can use the supercharger network"

LOL  MTG is an idiot.

Yes, I'm still holding TSLA and still green. Split adjusted my average cost basis is just 266 and change. Not counting my earlier buys which skew the average even lower.

I look for TSLA to eventually close the November 5/6 gap back down to the 250's. The irrational exuberance will eventually run it's course. That + people are sick of Elon's fascist shit, not only in America but in Europe too, which is why TSLA sales in Europe are down 45%. YOY in January. I only wish I'd have cashed out when it hit 488. But I'm still holding long. Despite his antics TSLA has a bright future ahead of it. People have short memories. Even Volkswagen survived the war and the beetle was crazy popular in the states in the 60's and is still sold here today.

It's no surprise, and I'm pretty sure it's nothing new, that BYD is eating their lunch in APAC.

Yeah no shit .. I've been debating selling since it was still in the 350 range, then I told myself I'd sell if it went below 300 .. shit. It went below 300. But then I'd have this chunk of cash to claim on taxes and nothing im interested in buying. .. Unless this most recently proposed bill passes in California that will smog exempt cars 35 years or older ( my 1990 Tbird .. carbed engine swap time ) .. going on a tangent. Probably won't happen. Yeah, my buy in for the first 30 shares is 27 dollars each. 😬

Guys,
There's no shame in profit taking. Nothing is stopping you from buying back in after the company slides further. While I personally detest this guy and is oversized comp package, I suspect the TSLA board is not going to cut him loose in the immediate future. They will want to see all of their investigations (NLRB for example) squished and whatever competitive Intel he can liberate first.

I think our elected president we'll need to have a falling out with our unelected president before we see a shake up.... Even if the share price falls to pre 2024 levels. These two carrots are unique to this one guy and no one else could bring that to the party.
