Post a picture you took today

Analysis indicates a probable root cause why one side of my hood appeared much higher than the other side and visually higher than the fender near the windshield.

Nearly finished at the community pool center.

I lay the pipe down, 42 feet at a time.

Fuck this shit.

That's a beautiful pool!

God bless the welders! As a CWI I really appreciate what these guys do and have to do to get it done! Truly masters of their trade.

Short story I know you and others will appreciate. I was checking a drain line under a turbine at a Nuke plant once. it was under the turbine, surrounded by other piping and up against the concrete support column. Very difficult to access. I could barely get in there to look at it and had to use a mirror to see the back side of the weld. As I placed the mirror behind the weld I was very impressed to see the back looked as good as the front. Truly impressive! As I crawled out of the hole the welder was standing there waiting on me to approve his weld. I said to him "I don't know how you made that weld, I could barely get in there to look at it but it looks great, you're good to go." He looked at me and said "I went Hellen Keller on it." I died laughing!

Here’s a bummer, found myself in Villa Park and realized I drove right by Strats drive in, now abandoned awaiting demolition. It’s been a car hangout for like 50 years, I only went a few times with friends(way too many idiots with daddy’s borrowed car) but the place was a legit piece of Americana

In its heyday

...

Well that sucks. The irony of the "Ghost Tours" vinyl on the window doesn't escape me.

They tore down that killer sign. No wonder you missed it and the place went to shit. Bummer.

I wonder how long it's been closed. The pandemic was the death nail for so many restaurants and diners.

I optimistically hope someone kept the sign for a museum or collection or something, that thing is way too cool and iconic to anyone in the area to imagine it scrapped, and given it’s not there but the building remains I hope I’m right. Searching around I think it closed last December, so it seemed to survive the pandemic but maybe only barely.

The ghost tours got me curious too, the doors also still have all the speed parts stickers applied to them too. That’s actually how I realized where I was, I pulled in to check my GPS and noticed all those on the windows and was like “wait a minute, I know this place!”

Saw this clean diesel Excursion today. So I had to park my slightly smaller Ecoboost close to it for a picture. They are pretty clsoe to the same size, not close in heavy duty lol

It’s pretty crazy how much everything has grown in the last 20 years isn’t it? Excursions really don’t stand out as uniquely huge anymore.

Since sedans are gone and crossovers took over it seems that way.

The Excursion is a beast at 227" ; the things just look beefy and truck-like AF. Fords current largest modern SUV is the long wheelbase Expedition/Navigator at 222". The long wheelbase models seem somewhat uncommon though, especially the Navigators. There is definitely a lot more usable passenger room in new big SUVs design.

Would love to own a nice Excursion.... I'd probably prefer a V10 model over the diesel

The bird used to park next to one at an apt complex. Shortest in the lot next to the tallest. There was a mid 90s 4frunner near by with the same paint too, which was a neat comparison to walk by. I like excursions and 4runners

Looks like it closed last December. Apparently they saved the sign, but I can't get far enough in facebook without an account to see where it is now. A national tire company bought the property so that is pretty sweet.

Hit a milestone on the CR-V daily the other day, yep that's kms not miles I did the conversion it's 71458 mi so still really low for a 19 year old car, I think I'm gonna treat her with a new battery as the starts early in the morning are a little hard other than that she has been the best daily I could have asked for.

I posted this back in February when I took over the heat exchanger piping on this project, its getting a lot closer to being open to the public soon.

Some days are easier than others .. this is for a natural gas supply ..

The underground gas piping been poly fusion welded. Yes its an actual weld process.

"I went Hellen Keller on it."

My welder enjoyed that story. 😆
