Post a picture you took today

Yesterday and Monday. Had a "buy my old shit" sale. Sadly, not much of this was sold. Most of what wasn't sold was taken to a thrift shop to donate. The rest is currently on my driveway with a big ol' "FREE" sign. What doesn't get picked up by trash day is going in the trash. :)

Good on you for actually taking it to good will, or wherever. My wife recycle that shit thru different totes. Like I can't count dozens of totes in my work room🙄

Here's what's left of mine. I ordered my bird on like 15 April 1997 and took delivery on 30 May 1997. 20241014_180532.jpg20241014_180537.jpg

Another Rustang.

I mean holy shit! I haven’t seen a car with trunk lid edge rust like that since 70s cars! Ford was really thorough with the retro vibes in this generation! SN95/new edges never rust this bad, such poseurs!

I didn't know that Ford went back to using steel for the trunk lids on the '05+. Did the hoods go back to steel, too?

I think the hoods were aluminum on S197s, I remember there being recalls for paint adhesion because of it. Trunk lid I’m with you, until I saw another one last year similarly rotted I thought they were fiberglass like the SN95s

Yeah, it's all gone now. I'm happy to purge extra stuff. Personally, I'd rather just chuck it to get it out sooner. But Goodwill (or similar) is good too.

My garage is a bit more open now, minus the dining table. This one is our old one as we just acquired a new one. As soon as this is gone, the T-Bird is going in the garage and I'll be able to start working on it.

Top: what it's like now. Might look just as bad as before, but there's much more space to move things around more freely.

Bottom: The "before" pic

Last night. My Honda. 17yrs of ownership, 3 timing belts, 3 transmissions, numerous sets of tires, numerous sets of brakes. She still going getting an average of 21MPG.

Mine finally gave a transmission hiccup. Didn't want to find 4th at 65, about threw me through the windshield.

I've been driving it still, just in D3. Gonna get a quote to fix it, and also look into swapping it for a stick.

But selling it and my truck to get something else is certainly on my mind.

You have the 7th gen, right? If so, another 7th gen 6spd will work. If you can find one, the 99-03 CL/TL 6spd will also work. If you can find the Type-S model, it'll be even better as it will have LSD. I've heard the J35 engines with manual transmission will also work, but those aren't as plug and play as the J30 and J32 variants are to our J30 equipped cars.

The little research I've done on it shows I need to swap the engine and dash harness. And that the dash has to be pulled to install the pedal.

I'm weighing the cost. I'm not gonna spend more than 4k on the car.

C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) was visible tonight - technically it's been visible for a while but it's been overcast for the last week or so, and it finally cleared out tonight. Got a few nice shots before it went below the trees across the street; here are a couple of them. Looks like a satellite snuck into the last one. :)

I don't see many Cougars as much as I see T-Birds. Thinking about it, I believe I see more MK-VIIIs than I see Cougars.

I hate big cities, but they are pretty from that height.

Last time I saw downtown Chicago was from that height. Much preferable.

It’s actually the opposite here, I’ve seen 3 different Cougars in the last month, but I think the last time I saw a wild Tbird may have been more than a year.

Maybe it's a rustbelt thing? Where T-Birds were seen as more "disposable" because they were the common car whereas the Cougars were more "luxurious" and therefore kept out of the elements?

And for here in the sun-belt, it's simply a numbers thing. More T-Birds were made than Cougars and therefore T-Birds are more common here?

IDK, I'm soliloquizing here.
