…And then there’s the cars that probably should be scrapped…

The other side was even worse but that wheel lip caught my eye from afar 🫣
That's a $5k car on Facebook Marketplace all day long. Not that it will sell, but somebody will list it for that. I'm not sure I've ever seen a rear quarter rust out like that just above the rear bumper cover.

That’s what caught my eye, I thought from afar someone tried making fender flares but I think it’s just a botched repair coming back to haunt it

Is that a Citron?

Citroën SVP.

Fun facts: I grew up in Germany where this specific model Citroën is called "Ente" (German for duck). The German word for police is Polizei, but a more colloquial (and occasionally derogatory) term is Polente. When I was little, there was a comedy TV show for children called Hals über Kopf, the protagonist of which is a police officer driving this Ente:

Also used in one of the better bond car chases

OMG, you serious?

Favorite Bond movie?

Moore made the role his own. Humor and all. Did you ever watch Persuaders with him and Tony Curtis?

The spy who loved me and man with the golden gun(which a lot of people hate but not me!) are probably my favs but moonraker and octopussy rank high to me too. He was the most fun portrayal of the character for me, call it over the top or campy or cheesy or whatever I’ve seen his flicks dozens of times and never get sick of them.

Never caught the Persuaders but I am aware of it, it’s been one of those bucket list binges I’ve been waiting to watch.

Octopussy is my favorite. They pulled all the stops.

Moore embraced the absurdity of the character: a secret agent who is instantly recognized by any receptionist in any 5-star hotel around the world. Plus he never took himself too seriously; he was imminently aware that he was extremely fortunate in life.

Definitely. I think it's on YouTube.

The wife likes The Man with the Golden Gun. That was the first one we watched once the set arrived. :)

The crazy part about that movie to me personally is my mom owned both a brownish colored AMC Matador and a Orange AMC Hornet my grandpa bought her new. She never saw that movie until I saw it when I was like 12ish watching it on TV, and her seeing her reaction to not just her hornet doing an awesome corkscrew jump but her matador turn into an airplane was one of the funniest moments in my life.

Talking about Moore not taking himself too seriously, has anyone ever seen the movie Boat Trip with Cuba Gooding Jr.? It's about two straight guys ending up on a gay cruise, and Moore plays an aging gay guy. It's pretty hilarious.

Another must-watch for Moore fans is North Sea Hijack with Moore and Anthony Perkins.

He also (besides the cars and lambo girls) makes the first cannonball run watchable playing the wealthy guy who deluded himself into thinking he’s Roger Moore 😆

My problem with Roger Moore as Bond is I could just never buy him as a ladies man. I think the Roger Moore movies are to James Bond what the Fast and Furious movies are to car movies. They are fun to watch, but just utterly ridiculous. Bond is supposed to be highly intelligent, deadly, charming, and basically top of his game going up against equally cunning villains. In that respect, Timothy Dalton was the best Bond in any Bond movie. And Sean Connery was the best Bond as Captain James Mason.

Agreed, and I love his movies because of that. Dalton's two Bonds are jawn-inducing by comparison, especially that one with that drug lord - I hate that film.

And to my previous post:

I’ll grant that all my best pickup lines I learned through the Moore Bond movies which might explain why I’m still single lol

Honestly I like all actors takes on bond in their own ways until Craig. Dalton should have had more movies for sure. Moore to me just was fun, his worst offense wasn’t even his fault, the producers just stuck with him too long until he was clearly too old(which he himself has said he was uncomfortable with). Really I absolutely love George Lazenby’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, I’m not sure even Connery would have fit that version of Bond despite technically being Connery era since he did one more afterwards. Plus Diana Rigg was an absolute babe and she drove a Mercury Cougar 🤤

Ok, Bond talk has officially taken over this thread. Moving on to favorite lines. Here's mine.

Movie: Live and Let Die

Situation: Bond and a female agent hike through the jungle. She is showing him the path to the villain's estate, but he has a hunch she's double crossing him. They take a break and shag. Yup, out there in broad daylight. After they're done he suddenly points his gun at her and orders her to tell him the truth.

She says: James, you wouldn't shoot me. You couldn't. Not after what we just did.

He says: Well, I certainly wouldn't have killed you before.

Yep. When we lived in Germany we used to call those duck cars.

Sean Connery was the best Bond. He made the character into what it was. Roger Moore's Bond had the best movies as far as plot and action goes.

A collection of pictures over the last few days for me...

Up first, this Ram Ute thing from Mexico.

Next is the Barbie "Cybertruck".

Then, I'm not sure if he's embellishing or not, but if so, this guy doesn't have book smarts but has another set of smarts that grants him a good living.

Then, on my birthday I went to a local stealership to waste a sales guy time. All they had were trucks, SUVs, and cars that identify as both wagons and SUV. I was irked that nobody came out to "help" me at the time, but in retrospect, I'm glad nobody came out to help me, lol.

That’s always been my attitude as well, Connery was THE man, no taking away from his portrayal whatsoever, but of all his bond movies From Russia With Love, Goldfinger and occasionally Diamonds are Forever(because I have an also forbidden love for 71-73 Mustangs) are the only movies I find continually rewatchable when I come across one. The only Moore movie on the other hand I truly think is a stinker is a View to a Kill but on the other hand it has strong “it’s so bad it’s good” qualities, which as a mst3k raised 90s kid is important!

I was just thinking this week upon my most recent dumpster sighting, Beyond Barbie, I’m really at the edge of my seat looking forward to the first inevitable Cybertruck imitator from an establishment manufacturer and the inevitable criticism from the Tesla true believers that’s hypocritically leveled at it for being crude and stupid lol. The stones cast from the not so bulletproof glass houses will be glorious! 😆

That’s always been my attitude as well, Connery was THE man,

I just don't see it. His play always seemed crude to me, almost bored, and lacking authenticity. Connery looked like a guy who was told to wear a suit; Moore looked comfortable wearing it.

And the movies...I think that's very much a generational thing. Connery's films are very dated to me. With Moore's films, the writing changed and Bond became more complex. In TMWTGG, there's a scene where Scaramanga tells Bond that they had a lot in common. Bond replys by saying: there's a very useful four-letter word, and you are full of it. I don't remember Connery's Bond ever expressing much of an opinion.

And A View to a Kill... Yes, he was too old. Yes, it lacks an exotic destination. It almost feels like a made-for-TV movie at times.
But it has Walken and Jones, who have fantastic chemistry with each other. And that scene where they want to drown Bond and he breathes air from the tire: total teachable moment when I was a kid; that's how I'll do it if ever anyone wants to drown me (preferably in a Rolls-Royce). And the Eiffel Tower jump!

My mother preferred Connery, too. I once asked her why. She said because of the chest hair.
